Tom is off to CrossFit Level 1 certification

Tom has been doing CrossFit for more than five years. He has all of the CrossFit Journals spiral-bound and has read them all many times over the years. There’s no more spiral binding now that the Journal is no longer emailed out as a PDF, so he reads it online and watches all the videos instead. (You should all subscribe to it. Feed your obsession.) Tom has been a great student of CrossFit and has had stellar results personally with his fitness and flexibility.

Certifications and workshops Tom has participated in include Kelly Starrett’s stretching and flexibility workshop; Jeff Tucker’s two-day gymnastics “certification” before it was officially sanctioned as a cert; Greg Everett and Aimee Anaya’s Olympic lifting certification; and several CrossFit Total events. Tom officiated at one of the lifting platforms at the Northwest Regional Qualifier for the 2009 CrossFit Games and was one of the WOD judges.

This weekend Tom will get one more credential, the Level 1 CrossFit trainer certification. Go Tom! He will be a programming mastermind at CrossFit 206 and develop a role as a trainer as his availability allows.

As an example of Tom’s rigorousness and knowledge, he has just corrected my earlier statements that he and I been doing CrossFit since there were only two CrossFits. He says two or three affiliate gyms besides CrossFit North, such as Rainier CrossFit and CrossFit East, preceded our membership in the cult. (It’s not a cult. Honest.) I stand corrected and will fix our “About” page.
