CrossFit 206 owners Tom Whalen and Fran Mason have been doing CrossFit since 2004, starting at CrossFit North when it was the only CrossFit gym in Seattle. We learned to deadlift and squat and to keep rowing/running/snatching when we wanted to quit. We learned how to get strong and tough. Kipping pull-ups, heavy lifts, sprints, Tabata intervals, kettlebell swings and snatches, Turkish get-ups… We were hooked after about three workouts. And we were older than 40 at the time! Fran Mason is the head trainer, with a vision of doing for you what CrossFit, via Dave Werner at CrossFit North, has done for her. Credentials: NSCA-CPT, CrossFit Level 1 (since 2006), RKC (since 2007), CrossFit Barbell (2008 with coach Mark Rippetoe). Fran has also had training in the Olympic lifts (clean and jerk and snatch) from several coaches including national-level coach Mike Burgener. Her favorite thing to teach is the deadlift. Come in and learn to do it well.

Trainer Tom Whalen is a true CrossFit scholar. He’s a CrossFit certified trainer who has also taken the Greg Everett weighlifting seminar, the CrossFit gymnastics seminar with Jeff Tucker, and more. Ask Tom all of your questions about programming, why the WODs are what they are, and anything about the history and growth of CrossFit, and he will have your answer.

Trainer Stephanie Vuolo is an ACSM CPT, a certified CrossFit Level One and CrossFit Kids trainer, as well as a certified Starting Strength barbell coach. She is dedicated to supporting her clients to make progress safely. She’s also a certified Nutritional Therapist with a real passion for meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking, and healthy whole-foods ways of eating. She has always been active in athletics, trying all types of sports from running to golf to rock climbing to yoga and finally falling in love with CrossFit. When she’s not in the gym she enjoys exploring the world with her husband, daughter and their two dogs.

Trainer Lovoka Knezevic is trained and certified in Personal Fitness (WITS), CrossFit Level 1, Massage Therapy (NCBTMB), Energy Medicine for Healing (BBSH), Health/Life Coaching (CoachU) and QiGong. She has a passion for a healthy lifestyle and a strong intention to maintain a fit physical body and a grounded spirit. Lovoka will inspire you through the obvious joy she takes in training and teaching.

Trainer Kyle Long says: I’ve always had an interest in fitness, but my knowledge of exercise form and methodology was based on the ‘gym rat’ school of thought. You can bet my first CrossFit workout was a real eye opener! The community and brilliance of the CrossFit program completely drew me in. Soon after I took my Level 1 certification and haven’t looked back. I hope to nurture and push our athletes to be the strong, vibrantly healthy people I know they all are. Outside of Crossfit my interests include the local art scene (particularly urban and street art), seeing as much live music as I can, and cheering on my Huskies.
