About us
Tom and Fran have been doing CrossFit for five years, starting at CrossFit North when there were only a few CrossFit gyms in the whole world. (Can you imagine such a world?) We learned to deadlift and squat and to keep rowing/running/snatching when we wanted to quit. We learned how to get strong and tough. Kipping pull-ups, heavy lifts, sprints, Tabata intervals, oh, and kettlebell swings and snatches, Turkish get-ups... We were hooked after about three workouts. And we were older than 40 at the time! Click here for photos of CrossFit stuff going on.
We've been Central District residents since 1997 when we moved here from Chicago. We love the neighborhood, we love CrossFit, and we want to combine the two. Neighbors have asked us: "When are you going to open a CrossFit around here?" Neighbors, THANK YOU for your interest, and at last here's CrossFit 206.
Fran's the head trainer, with a vision of doing for you what Dave Werner did for her (me). (I'm also the head blogger.) Credentials: NSCA-CPT, CrossFit Level 1 (since 2006), RKC (since 2007), CrossFit Barbell (2008 with coach Mark Rippetoe). I've had training in the Olympic lifts (clean and jerk and snatch) from several coaches including Mike Burgener, Greg Everett, and Aimee Anaya. Despite all that, the bottom line is that I learned almost everything I need to know from Dave. Pressurize! Get your hips back! Let me show you how. Contact me: fran at crossfit206 dot com.
Tom's the backup trainer, the fellow visionary, and a true CrossFit scholar. He's a CrossFit certified trainer who has also done the Greg Everett weighlifting seminar, CrossFit gymnastics seminar with Jeff Tucker, and more. Ask Tom all of your questions about programming, why the WODs are what they are, and anything about the history and growth of CrossFit, and he will have your answer or find it.
Stephanie Vuolo is a certified CrossFit and CrossFit Kids trainer and is totally dedicated to seeing her clients safely make progress. She's completing a certification as a nutritional therapist through the Nutritional Therapy Association and is a great choice for help with food sensitivies, healthy choices, and weight loss.
