Big fat report on fats

Posted by on Jan 22, 2012 in Blog, Nutrition | 2 comments

Here are my notes from reading up on fats and oils for cooking, following lots of discussion at our nutrition talk in the gym yesterday. Industrially produced polyunsaturated fats (“PUFAs”) have been all the rage for cooking in recent decades because they are “vegetable oils” that don’t contain cholesterol. Examples: corn oil, vegetable oil, canola oil, Crisco. Paleo-diet researchers point out that these are undesirable because they contain too much omega-6 fat...

Our next Paleo Challenge is around the corner and we want you to have all of the resources you need at your disposal. I mentioned in the nutrition discussion at the gym today, I highly encourage everyone to have a SMART goal for the 6 week challenge. Paleo on Vacation

Posted by on Nov 6, 2011 in Blog, Nutrition | Comments Off

“I can’t do the paleo challenge or Whole30 because I’m going to Hawaii in the middle of it!” is something we’ve heard more than once. Sound familiar? Read about this vacation-packing and long plane travel day, Maui-bound with two children. It takes some planning, but so does every vacation. As Stephanie says, planning is more important than cooking. Maui Day #1

More recipe sites!

Paleo books seem to be proliferating–paleo recipe websites even more so. I love the visual style of this site as well as the recipes. This pulled-pork recipe appeals to me! These writers seem to support the big Paleo picture and to be a bit lenient on some of the details, for example they...
