Some CrossFit principles
Healthy exercise is built around pushing, pulling, using your hips, and using your abs and back together in the right way. Running, jumping, lifting, and sprinting are all parts of CrossFit.
Functional movement means multi-joint movement that generates power. Power starts in the core and flows to the extremities, and velocity increases towards extremities.
We specialize in not specializing. This is general physical preparedness training.
The first thing to learn is the difference between hip flexion and torso flexion.
Core strength means the ability to maintain a rigid torso. This is required to pass the power from the core or hips outward to the extremities/load, and to avoid back injury.
Strength comes from challenging and gradually overloading the body's biggest, most multi-joint-connected muscle systems, such as those surrounding the hips or the shoulders.
In order to build a strong core, the body has to support itself (not sit in a machine to "exercise").
"Everyone can do CrossFit, but CrossFit is not for everyone. People who thrive on CrossFit are committed to hard work, willing to try without fear of failure, and eager for a challenge." -Rainier CrossFit
